Chair exercise is a fun and safe way for anyone to enjoy the benefits of physical exercise. It is ideal for those with limited mobility, and also offers a low-impact workout. The goal is to get your body moving safely and appropriately, using your arms, legs, and torso to perform different motions. It has many benefits and very few drawbacks, providing a mild cardiovascular workout and releasing endorphins.
The prospective original tutor has had family issues, and the prospective group leader is moving out of the area, so planning for this new group has been in abeyance. However, a volunteer has come forward to lead the group and so I'm restarting a search for a suitable tutor. Whether that will be an actual dance teacher, or someone cross-certified in chair exercise including both yoga and dance, I do not yet know; it will depend on availability.
I am working with the new prospective group leader to pull dates, a venue and a tutor together. The class will most probably be held at St Martin's Parish Centre, in St Aiden's room, and will last for 1 hour. The cost will depend on the fee required by the tutor but will be in the region of between £4 and £5, which is considerably below the 'going rate' of ~ £8 per hour elsewhere.
